Vanderbilt Museum 1910

The "Vanderbilt's" a family name synonymous with American history. When William K Vanderbilt constructed his mansion in 1910 in Centerport New York he spared no expense. This three story home was built to last. Acquired by a nonprofit organization in 1947, the museum opened in 1950. The Vanderbilt's will stipulate that the estate was to be dedicated to the "education and enjoyment of the public" and "enhanced" as a museum.

Most recently the caretakers of the museum were experiencing water leaking from the roof are into the plaster ceilings and walls of the building. They contacted US Sewer & Drain to diagnose the leaking drains located on the roof. Because of the priceless works of art and 18th century antique furniture throughout the building, time was of the essence. The US Sewer & Drain team quickly went to work as soon as they arrived on site.

After careful evaluation of the eight roof drains atop the mansion it was discovered that each four inch diameter drain pipe dropped approxamently 50 feet before exiting the building. It was also discovered that these pipes were made of led. The led piping was badly deteriorated and showed signs of pin hole leaks and large separations at the joints. US Sewer & Drain had the answer.

Due to the many 90 degree bends in the piping system a special “Flexible” pipelining material would be needed. A “Seamless” 50 ft section of liner was installed into each pipe utilizing US Sewer & Drain’s unique “Air Inversion” process. Each liner was “Shot” into place with air making the process quick, clean and long lasting. The enhanced resins that US Sewer & Drain utilizes on all of their work will ensure these pipes will do their jobs for many years to come.

This is just one of the many success stories from jobs around the country that US Sewer & Drain performs every day. We encourage any potential clients to call upon this job as a request for reference. Thank you and congratulations to the US Sewer & Drain crew Shaun Marseglia, Ruben Santiago, Luis Salazar, and Justin Joshia for a job well done. I’m sure Mr. Vanderbilt would have been pleased.
